How it works

DermaV uses two wavelengths of laser energy—532 nm and 1064 nm—to target different concerns within the skin.

For vascular concerns, laser energy is absorbed by the blood within targeted vessels. The resulting heat helps reduce their appearance over time. For selected pigment concerns, the laser targets unwanted pigment, which may gradually darken and then fade as the skin renews.

DermaV also includes a cooling system to help protect the skin and support comfort during treatment. Your provider will select the wavelength and settings appropriate for your skin type and concern.

  • The number of treatments depends on your concern, the area treated, and how your skin responds. Some small vessels or spots may improve after one or two sessions, while facial redness or more extensive concerns may require a series of treatments. We’ll discuss a personalized plan during your consultation.

  • You may feel warmth or a quick snapping sensation during treatment. Sensitivity varies by person and treatment area. DermaV’s cooling system helps make the treatment more comfortable.

  • Downtime varies based on the concern treated and the settings used. Redness, warmth, and mild swelling may last a few hours to several days. Some treatments can cause bruising or temporary darkening and flaking of pigmented spots, which may take longer to resolve.

  • Some small vessels may look improved soon after treatment, while other changes develop gradually over several weeks. Pigmented spots may temporarily darken before fading. Results and timing vary, and more than one treatment may be needed.

  • Temporary redness, swelling, warmth, tenderness, bruising, or darkening of treated spots can occur. Less common risks include blistering, burns, changes in skin pigmentation, or scarring. We’ll review the benefits and risks with you before treatment.

  • DermaV offers different wavelengths and settings that can be selected for a range of skin tones. The safest and most appropriate treatment depends on your skin type, recent sun exposure, and the concern being treated. We’ll evaluate your skin before recommending treatment.

  • Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure before treatment, and use daily sun protection. Let us know about any recent sunburn, self-tanner, medications, skin conditions, or recent treatments. We’ll provide specific preparation instructions and let you know whether any skincare products should be paused.

  • Follow the personalized instructions provided by your treatment team. Keep the area clean, use gentle skincare, protect it from the sun, and avoid picking at any darkened or flaky spots. We’ll let you know when to resume active skincare products and other activities.

  • DermaV can help improve the appearance of rosacea-related redness and visible vessels, but rosacea is a chronic condition. A personalized treatment plan, skincare routine, and avoiding your individual triggers can help you manage it over time.
